Breaking: Satya Nadella officially named new Microsoft CEO

Ron

We can’t say we didn’t see this coming. The rumors have been all over the internet in recent days that Microsoft’s cloud chief, Satya Nadella, was in line to fill the rather big shoes formerly occupied by larger-than-life figures Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer.

Nadella becomes only the third CEO in company history, getting the nod over other front-runners like Steven Elop. Ford president Alan Mulally took himself out of the running a few weeks ago.

The software giant has posted an official page (linked below) to allow everyone to get to know Mr. Nadella, who was born in Hyderabad, India in 1967. He has been with the company for 22 years — Microsoft elected not to go the outsider route that some expected, or at least wanted.

The company is now in the process of posting videos to bring the narrative together for all of this. You can watch John Thompson, who headed the search, discuss how the decision was reached, and Steve Ballmer also took a moment to reflect on his successor. As for meeting and greeting the new CEO, you can watch that one below.
