Surface Pro 3 gets new firmware update with improvements to reliability and battery life

Microsoft has released yesterday a new firmware update for Surface Pro 3 tablets running Windows 10 (via Neowin). While this is a minor update, Microsoft says that it should improve battery life during sleep as well as Preboot Execution Environment (PXE) performance on IPv6.

Here is the complete changelog:

  • Surface Pro Embedded Controller Firmware: 38.13.50.0 improves battery life during sleep.
  • Surface Pro UEFI: 3.11.2150.0 improves PXE performance on IPv6.

The Surface Pro 3 will celebrate its third anniversary this month, and it’s good to see that Microsoft is still supporting its first 12-inch hybrid tablet. You can install the new firmware on your Surface Pro 3 by checking Windows Update, but the update is also available to download on Microsoft’s Download Center. Let us know in the comments if you notice some improvements after installing the new bits.
