Good news for fans of The Walking Dead series of episodic games, all three Xbox 360 titles are now backward compatible onwith the Xbox One. To be clear, this is just The Walking Dead Season one and two plus The Walking Dead: Michonne, as the season three was only released on next gen consoles.

All three games were already available on the Xbox One, but it’s pretty great to be able to keep playing the Xbox 360 versions on the new console. If you have yet to play these critically-acclaimed titles, be aware that the first episodes of the seasons one and two are free (others episodes are $5 each, but you can save a bit by purchasing the Season Passes). You can find download links, official descriptions and video trailers below.

The Walking Dead (first episode free)

Episode one of a five-part game series set in the same universe as Robert Kirkman’s award-winning series. Play as Lee Everett, a convicted criminal, who has been given a second chance at life in a world devastated by the undead. Experience events, meet people and visit locations that foreshadow the story of Deputy Sheriff Rick Grimes. A tailored game experience – actions, choices and decisions you make will affect how your story plays out across the entire series.

The Walking Dead: Season Two (first episode free)

The Walking Dead: Season Two, a five-part game series that continues the story of Clementine, a young girl orphaned by the undead apocalypse. Left to fend for herself, she has been forced to learn how to survive in a world gone mad. Many months have passed since the events seen in Season One of The Walking Dead, and Clementine is searching for safety. But what can an ordinary child do to stay alive when the living can be just as bad – and sometimes worse – than the dead? As Clementine, you will be tested by situations and dilemmas that will test your morals and your instinct for survival. Your decisions and actions will change the story around you, in this sequel to 2012’s Game of the Year.

The Walking Dead: Michonne (Episode 1 is $4.99)

The Walking Dead: Michonne – A Telltale Miniseries stars the iconic, blade-wielding character from Robert Kirkman’s best-selling comic books. Haunted by her past, and coping with unimaginable loss and regret, the story explores Michonne’s absence between issues #126 and #139 of the comic book. Over the three episodes of the miniseries, players will discover what took Michonne away from Rick, Ezekiel, and the rest of her trusted group… and what brought her back.

Developer Telltale Games has released many other games on the Xbox 360 including The Wolf Among Us, Games of Thrones and Tales from the Borderlands, and we hope all of them will soon be added to the Xbox One Backward Compatibility list.
