“In order to continue providing the best mobile app experience, we will be implementing a system change to the OnStar RemoteLink mobile app later this year,” the notification reads. “This will discontinue RemoteLink mobile app support for your BlackBerry or Windows smartphone. To continue using the mobile application, it will require a Google Android or Apple iOS device meeting the minimum operating system requirements.”
In addition to a discontinuation of its Windows phone and Blackberry RemoteLink apps, OnStar is also apparently discontinuing its myChevrolet, myBuick, myCadillac, and myGMC mobile apps as well.
The RemoteLink app connects smartphone users to their OnStar-enabled vehicles and allows them to stop and start the vehicles, open and close its doors, turn on horn and lights, monitor fuel and more.
