Microsoft today announced that they will be launching a new Office 365 app launcher experience over the next couple of months. Compared to the current experience, the new launcher is much more personalized and is aimed at helping users find and open the apps they use most frequently.

Although the visual look of the launcher experience is changing, users will still see the apps which are available to them based on their licenses. There is also more emphasis on most used Office 365 apps and apps which are more relevant to the user. You can check the video below for the complete rundown and visual preview of the new app launcher.

Microsoft mentions that the user’s main view will still list all default apps, and apps the user has opened in the previous 45 days. Additionally, with the new launcher, access to the Mail, Calendar, People and Tasks tiles have also been merged into one main tile called “Outlook.”  Calendar and Tasks will be accessed from the switcher in the outlook app, and direct access is available by pinning to the main view.

Given that Microsoft announced a redesign of the launcher at this same point last year, it is apparent that the company is always listening to user feedback. So, if you would like to get an early look at the app launcher, you can join the first release program and let Microsoft know your thoughts on the new experience.
