The Guardian is the latest company to end support for its Windows 10 app. Yesterday, the publication announced that the app would no longer be available to download from the Microsoft Store, though it will continue to work on your PC or phone if you’ve already downloaded it. The company explained its decision with the following statement:

We don’t take discontinuing services lightly and Windows continues to be an important platform for our readers. However, after taking a number of key factors into consideration – such as current usage, costs to support and effort to maintain parity with Android and iOS – we believe we can provide a better experience through our website for our readers using Windows.

The Guardian launched its Windows 10 app two years ago, and one of its main features was offline reading. Unfortunately, it seems that this wasn’t enough to drive more usage. Did you use The Guardian’s universal app, and will you be sad to see it go away? Let us know in the comments below.
