Huawei unveiled its new Mate10 Android flagship in Munich, Germany yesterday, and the Chinese manufacturer has partnered with LinkedIn to integrate the professional social network right into the new handset. The Mate10 will run EMUI 8, a custom version of Android “Oreo” 8.0 which can integrate all your LinkedIn contacts into the native phone address book.
“Whether it’s reading a message or receiving a phone call, you’ll instantly know more information about the contact, what company they work for, and even see their LinkedIn profile photo,” explained LinkedIn in a blog post yesterday. “And if you receive an email from an unknown sender, with a single click you’ll be able to see the sender’s professional identity.” You can see how the integration works in the video below:
Huawei is not the only company to introduce a LinkedIn integration to its Android software: two months ago, Samsung announced that the social network was now integrated in its Bixby digital assistant that launched on the Galaxy S8. It will be interesting to see if the Microsoft subsidiary can make similar deals with other Android manufacturers in the near future.Further reading: Huawei, LinkedIn
