The Xbox One digital card game, Gwent, will finally move to Public Beta on May 24th. “Public Beta is the next step in the game’s development process,” CD PROJEKT RED’s Benjamin Lee said in a statement. “One that we’d be honored to continue alongside everyone who’s been with us thus far. It’s also a chance for many new gamers to play GWENT for the first time and we’re looking forward to making the game even better with their help.”
As a result of the game opening up to the public (albeit still in a testing Beta phase), card collections and player progress will be reset. As compensation for the loss of content and for the time invested in the Closed Beta though, existing players will be rewarded with numerous kegs (packs of digital cards) to quickly fill out their decks again. Gwent servers are expected to go down for the transition on the 22nd and 23rd of May and players should plan accordingly.
Gwent is based on the characters and world in The Witcher, a popular game series based on an even more popular fantasy novel series. Just yesterday, it was announced that Netflix will be making a live action series based The Witcher. It’s a good time to be a fan.Further reading: Microsoft, Video Games, Xbox, Xbox One
