Along with the announcement of the Surface Pro, new Surface Pen, and new Surface Type Covers, Microsoft today at the Shanghai event announced a new Microsoft Whiteboard app and some new inking features for Office 365.

According to Microsoft, the new Microsoft Whiteboard app will offer up a “limitless canvas for creativity and collaboration with simultaneous inking between multiple people across the world.” The new app will also allow people to collaborate on ideas and projects, including on ink enabled Windows 10 devices.

Also paired with the announcement of Microsoft Whiteboard are some new inking features for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. According to Microsoft, these office apps will soon have new inking features. The company explains in a blog post:

Today, we showed off new inking features in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint that include a customizable gallery of your favorite pens, pencils, and highlighters that roams with you as a personalized setting across Office apps and devices, along with support for tilt and shading with the new Surface Pen.

It’s not clear when the new app and Office inking features, will launch, but Microsoft is saying that it will come “later this year” with “exclusive capabilities for Office 365 subscribers.” We will be following this story closely, so be sure to keep it tuned for more information.
