OnPodcast: The OnMSFT Podcast Episode 1: Surface Duo Hands on, Project Moca, Intel Tiger Lake, and more

Hello, everyone, and welcome to OnPodcast: The OnMSFT.com Postcast. This is our new podcast series staring our contributing writers, Kareem Anderson and Arif Bacchus.

Each Sunday, our podcast will cover a look at some of the topics that have been trending in the world of Microsoft over the past few weeks. We also have a special segment known as “The Week Ahead” where we talk about some topics we think will be big for Microsoft moving into the next week.

In this week’s show, we talk about our Surface Duo Hands-on. We also talk about Project Moca and get into Intel’s new Tiger Lake chips, and the latest 8cX Gen 2 chips from Qualcomm. Here’s a summary for you, and please listen to an audio version of the podcast below, if you so prefer it.

Segment 1: Surface Duo Hands-on (2:19- 11:00)

In this first segment, Arif talks about his Surface Duo Hands-on experience. He gets into how the software experience worked for him, how the camera worked, and some of the worries he has about the Duo. Kareem also talks about the Duo in his perspective, and how he sees it fitting in switching from the Pixel 3XL.

Segment 2: Project Moca (11:00- 15:21)

Next up in our second segment, Arif and Kareem talk about Project Moca. If you didn’t already know, Project Moca is a new experience from Microsoft, currently in a preview, which simplifies your workflow so you can focus on what matters. Arif gets into his hands-on experience, and how he used Project Moca to get ready for his Surface Duo review. Kareem, meanwhile, talks about how Project Moca compares to Trello and the other software and services he uses at his second job.

Segment 3: Intel Ice Lake chipsets, and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cX Gen 2 (15:23- 23:48)

In this final segment, Kareem talks about Intel’s latest Ice Lake chipsets, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8cX Gen 2 chips. Arif asks him about how he sees these fitting into hardware, perhaps in the Surface Pro 8. Arif and Kareem also get into how Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon chips can fit in with the next-gen Surface Pro X.

The Week Ahead:

To end the OnPodcast, Arif and Kareem discuss some topics they think will be big for the week ahead. These topics include how there could be more Office and Microsoft 365 news coming out of Ignite 2020. There’s also talk about Flight Simulator 2020 and how it’s the next big thing for Microsoft. Finally, to end, Arif and Kareem talk about the latest Windows Insider build and how it could hint at Windows 10X features coming to Windows 10.
