It all started 3 months ago, when luger33 from Reddit started a thread on the Xbox One sub-reddit, complaining about the ‘Popular now’ section of the Xbox One dashboard, which is found in the Community area. Users of Xbox One were complaining about the types of content appearing in the feed, which included people begging for likes, followers and “support.” In addition, some people picked issue with it being used to become “internet famous.”

MS, I do not want this content in my social gaming feed. PLEASE add filters or allow us to disable "Popular Now" if you won’t address this from xboxone

Around that time, it was said that Microsoft would look to rectify the issue and make changes to improve the content that is shown. Unfortunately, 3 months on, that appears to not be the case, with another thread now gaining traction on Reddit:

Anybody else tired of Popular Now? Only 235 likes & 25 mostly negative comments on this one. Phil & Major said this would be looked into ages ago. #EndTheTrend from xboxone

This time, the issue appears to be with the small amount of ‘likes’ needed to show on the Popular section, in this case it only being 235, despite content after it having 3728 and before it 1240.

Some users just want an option to disable this section, so that those who want to see this type of content can, and those who don’t, don’t. It also raises issue with how Microsoft is managing player feedback. 2 highly-upvoted threads on a sub-reddit that is frequented by Xbox’s own Major Nelson is still not enough to kick Microsoft into looking at these complaints.
