Sticky Notes 3.1 brings dark mode and faster sync to all Windows 10 users

Microsoft has just released Sticky Notes version 3.1 on Windows 10 version 1803 or higher. This major update brings what the teams call a “full-on dark mode,” which will apply a dark grey background color to your notes and the app’s home hub. Moreover, this update brings a faster and more reliable sync engine so you can get to your latest notes even quicker.

This 3.1 update first shipped to Windows Insiders a couple of weeks ago, and at the time we noted that there was a problem with the dark blue colour that the app was using for certain words when you turned on “Insights” in settings. The Insights feature allows you to quickly create reminders from urls and certains words like dates, but we’re glad that the team has ultimately opted for an easier to read lighter blue colour for these actionable words in the public release.

As a reminder, you can now access your Sticky Notes from the OneNote app on iOS and Android, as well as the latest Microsoft Launcher beta. A web app is also available on onenote.com/stickynotes. The Sticky Notes team recently teased that it will soon be possible to add images to your Sticky Notes, and as usual this feature will likely ship first to Windows Insiders.
