It's been nearly a year since Planner, Microsoft's new task manager app and Trello competitor started to roll out to Office 365 commercial customers. Since then, the company has slowly iterated and introducing new features to facilitate teamwork, but the service is still suffering from two annoying shortages: it doesn't have dedicated mobile apps, and it has yet to be deeply integrated with Microsoft Teams.
Today, Microsoft is starting to solve the first issue by releasing a Planner app for iPhones (via MSPoweruser). This first version brings all the basic features needed to manage your different boards, create new tasks and organize them into buckets. There is also a "My Tasks" view that gives you a complete overview of all your assigned tasks and their current status.
For a first version, this looks to be a pretty solid release and we hope that the Planner app will soon be available on Android and Windows Phone pretty soon. Back in January, the Planner team shared on the dedicated Uservoice website that they have "started work on our mobile apps and will working with the folks working on the Groups App to figure out all the right integration points." We'll let you know if we hear more about the Planner mobile apps, but in the meantime you can try the iOS app with the download link below.
