It’s official: Xbox One X is the fastest selling Xbox pre-order ever

Since Microsoft opened pre-orders for the Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition last Sunday, many signs showed that the new console was off to a strong start. The 4K gaming system quickly sold at most retailers over the past few days, and pre-orders for the limited edition console already surpassed Sony’s Playstation 4 Pro on Amazon’s 2017 best seller list.

Microsoft clearly has an early hit on it hands, and Corporate Vice President of Marketing for Xbox Mike Nichols proudly claims today that Xbox One X is the fastest selling Xbox pre-order ever. “Within just a few days, we saw record-setting sell-out times and are currently sold out in many countries around the world,” shared the exec. “You, our biggest fans, have pre-ordered more Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition consoles in the first five days than any Xbox ever.”

If you missed your chance to pre-order the Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition this week, don’t worry: the Xbox team will share details of the next wave of Xbox One X standard edition pre-orders next month, so more enthusiasts will be able to receive their console on November 7.

In other Xbox One X-related news, the new console received the gamescom 2017 award for best hardware this week, which is probably well-deserved: if the new console is nearly six times more powerful than the Xbox One S, it has a slightly smaller body and retained the Xbox One S internal power brick, which is really nice. As Nichols says it, “there’s really never been a better time to be an Xbox gamer,” and we definitely agree.
