A few weeks after announcing that it will be holding a media event in New York City, Microsoft has followed up to reveal that it will also live stream the event on its social media platforms. The event can be watched in full on Twitter, starting at 10:00 AM ET.

For those who closely follow Microsoft, this announcement should be quite surprising as the last two major Surface hardware events have not been live streamed. Last year’s Surface Headphones, Surface Pro 6, Surface Laptop 2, and Surface Studio 2 reveal was well-covered across Microsoft’s social media channels and blogs — but it never featured live videos. Before that, with the reveal of the Surface Pro 2017 and Surface Pro LTE and the Surface Book 2, Microsoft also didn’t live stream. Instead, the company simply revealed the devices via blog posts or with social media.
Even for this year’s reveal of this year’s Surface Hub 2S, Microsoft didn’t hold a public live stream. The last time Microsoft showcased a Surface event for the entire world to watch live dates back to May of 2017. That was then the unexpected reveal of the original Surface Laptop.
With this year’s event being live-streamed, Microsoft could have a lot of surprises and goodies to reveal, perhaps even the long talked about Surface Centaurus. We might even see a Surface Go with a Core M3 processor or Surface Pro with Intel’s latest Ice Lake processors.
OnMSFT is attending this year’s October 2 Surface event live so be sure to keep it tuned here as the event unfolds live.
