Microsoft announced today at its Ignite conference that it’s integrating LInkedIn’s data into Office 365 apps and services. After connecting your LinkedIn account to your Office 365 account, you’ll be able to get personalised LinkedIn insights in Outlook and other Office 365 apps and services.
“Whether it’s a colleague, customer or partner, these details help you better understand who that person is so you can start off on the right foot and collaborate efficiently, even when outside your organization,” a LinkedIn blog post notes. “But our vision is to help you deepen existing relationships as well — surprising you with what you may not know about the people you work with every day.”
LinkedIn’s integration in the Profile Card will start rolling out next month to Office 365 first release customers, and it will be available first in the Outlook web app, SharePoint and OneDrive for Business (the integration will come in the coming months on Outlook desktop, Outlook iOS and other Office products). Last but not least, this new LinkedIn integration will be available “soon” on personal Outlook.com accounts, and it should be more advanced that the now deprecated feature that let you sync various social media accounts (including LinkedIn and Facebook) to your Microsoft account.
