Xiaomi is partnering with Microsoft to help test Windows 10 for phones

Although details are scarce at this time, Microsoft has revealed that Xiaomi, one of the top Android smartphone distributors in the world, has entered into a new program with Microsoft. Xiaomi will be helping Microsoft test Windows 10 for phones by inviting a select group of Xiaomi Mi 4 users to provide feedback on the operating system.

“Through a new program with Xiaomi, one of the top smartphone distributors in the world, a select group of Xiaomi Mi 4 power users will be invited to help test Windows 10 and contribute to its future release later this year. These power users will have the opportunity to download the Windows 10 Technical Preview – installing it and providing their feedback to Microsoft,” Microsoft stated in an official blog post.

Xiaomi claims the top spot in market share in the one of the biggest smartphone markets in the world — China. With this news, could we be seeing a Xiaomi-powered Windows 10 smartphone? The Mi 4, for those that did not know, is an Android-powered 5-inch smartphone that features 1080p resolution and a 2.5 GHz CPU.

We’ll have more on this as it develops.
