Xbox Series S Toaster: real or just an early April Fools’ joke?

No doubt you’ve seen the Xbox Series X mini fridge—the appliance inspired by Microsoft’s ninth-generation gaming console. The ironically hot item (it initially sold out within minutes of going on sale) is basically a super-sized replica of the Xbox Series X gaming machine, with all the functionality you’d find in any other mini-fridge. We couldn’t think of a cooler way (no pun intended) to keep your beverages nice and cold while getting your game on.

In fact, a YouTuber even made a full-size, working Xbox Series X refrigerator for his YouTube channel.

It looks like the popularity of this novelty appliance isn’t lost on Microsoft, at least if the latest rumors are to be believed. “Leaked” images of an Xbox Series S toaster have been making the rounds online. Originally “leaked” by Twitter user @GyoJvfr the images are supposedly from a pre-order promotion.

If this rumored fully-licensed product is real, then it appears it will retail for $63.66/ £53/ AUS$94.61/ €60.  Believe it or not, this would not be the first console toaster. That distinction would go to the Nintoaster, which was a modified appliance that could play NES cartridges that loaded into the toaster’s slots.

While the purported price of $63.66 USD may seem steep for a toaster, if Microsoft were to bring Xbox Cloud Gaming to this thing, they might just have winner here.
