Windows 10 Core and Windows 10 Pro app spotted in Windows 10 (beta) Store

Microsoft is set to launch the Windows 10 operating system on July 29th for PC, followed by other platforms in the coming months. The company aims to make sure that one billion devices are running the new operating system in the next two to three years, but it remains to be seen how the company plans to pull the milestone off. Windows 10 brings some promising features, and users running a legitimate Windows 7 or 8.1 license can upgrade to the latest operating system free of cost.

Earlier today, a Russian blog OneTile.ru spotted two mysterious new apps known as “Windows 10 Core” and “Windows 10 Pro”. Although the details about the new apps are scarce at the moment, and the apps cannot be opened in the Windows 8.1 store — they are not even downloadable at the moment.

The report from the Russian blog suggests that these two new apps may have something to do with the Windows 10 upgrade, by switching from the traditional license key mechanism to a store license connected to users Microsoft account — quite similar to app purchases which are connected to the user’s account, allowing them to install it on any compatible device. Windows 8 to 8.1 upgrade was also made available through the Windows Store, followed by Windows Update as the means to push later upgrades and fixes.

Furthermore, they speculate that users must have Windows 10 Core in order to use the Windows 10 Pro app. Basically, this could be a method by which users can upgrade from the basic version of Windows 10 to the Pro version, by just purchasing and installing it from the Windows 10 Store — this will definitely make things easier for users who plan to upgrade to Pro version fof the operating system.

We’ll definitely find out more details about the two apps as they develop. In the meantime, you can find everything related to Windows 10, it’s pricing, availability and everything else here.

Thanks Denis for the tip!!!
