Twitter progressive web app gains Windows 10 Live Tile support

The new Twitter progressive web app (PWA) has updated with a significant change, most notably the addition of support for Windows 10 Live Tiles.

This new functionality allows users to pin Twitter profiles to their Windows 10 Start Menu for easy access and the tile itself can be resized to one of three different sizes (S, M, and L). Once pinned, the Live Tile will update automatically to display information and media associated with the related account.

Being a PWA, the app itself doesn’t need to update in the traditional sense. Instead, the changes should already have been made as soon as the developers published the changes.

This new progressive web app version of the Twitter app is currently only available to Windows Insiders running Redstone 4 and 5 as it’s still being tested and developed. Users running a regular public version of Windows 10 (which is most people) will still have the original UWP Windows 10 Twitter app which will be replaced by this PWA version whenever it’s ready for public use.
