Spotify is out on Xbox One, but users complain of skips and lag

Two years after launching on Sony’s Playstation 4, Spotify finally became available on Microsoft’s Xbox One console this week, and so far gamers seem to really love it. The app currently has a 4.8 average rating on the Xbox Store, and the majority of users are saying that it works as expected.

However, not all comments are positive and some players seem to have issues when the music streaming app is playing music in the background. In the Xbox One subreddit, user “GootballLifee” recently complained about the music skipping or lagging when playing Battlefield 1, and the gamer also saw some frame rate drops when using the app. In the comments, other users said they had a similar experience when playing Titanfall 2, Halo 5: Guardians, Halo Wars 2 or FIFA 17.

We spotted similar comments in the Xbox Store, though they’re in the minority. We didn’t have any issues with the app so far, but we’ll have to use it more to see if we have the same bad experience when playing certain Xbox One games. Overall, Spotify for Xbox one remains pretty solid for a v1, and it can only only become better with software updates.

Sound off in the comments if you had any issues with the app when playing music in the background.
