Pokemon Go could be coming to the HoloLens in the future

The all-new hit game for Pokemon fans, Pokemon Go, has taken gamers around the world outside, literally. Users of iOS and Android devices, but not Windows devices, have been out on the streets attempting to capture wild Pokemon’s.

While using the phone’s camera to create an augmented reality feeling is interesting, it isn’t quite the same as having an augmented reality headset, covering your entire vision in the augmented world. John Hanke, the CEO of Niantic, who developed the game, hinted that the game could be making its way to dedicated augmented reality devices, such as Microsoft’s HoloLens and Google Glass.

This is good news for two reasons. For one, it means users of Microsoft’s own platforms would be able to partake in the new phenomenon, but it also heightens the chance that the game could make its way to Windows 10 Mobile, as the developers would be closer to the platform than they currently are, especially if they could pull it off using Microsoft’s Universal platform.

Could we see Pokemon Go for HoloLens in the future? We’ll have to wait and see.

More information on this is expected over the coming months, but it would make perfect sense for the game to arrive on dedicated devices, providing an enriched experience for gamers.
