Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s open beta begins this weekend and all Xbox One console owners are being encouraged to play.

The primary open beta period begins on Saturday, October 17th and runs through to Monday, October 19th but those who have digitally pre-ordered the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War video game on Xbox One or Xbox Series X can dive in early on October 15th and 16th.

Six maps will be playable across the 6v6 modes, 12v12 Combined Arms mode, and the new 40-player Fireteam: Dirty Bomb mode.

A special beta-specific levelling system will be active for the length of the open beta and those that reach Level 10 will receive a SMG Weapon Blueprint in the main game when it launches in November.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War open beta is now available to pre-download for those planning to participate.
