New Xbox One Game Hubs launch for Transformers, Unravel, Gears of War and Plants vs Zombies ahead of pre-orders

Several new Game Hubs have launched on Xbox One for upcoming games on the console which allow users to pin the titles to their Xbox One dashboard, view images and details on each title and receive updates from the game developers.

The titles are;

  • Gears of War: Ultimate Edition: The latest release in the hit Gears of War franchise.
  • Transformers: Devastation: An upcoming cell-shaded Transformers title inspired by the original 80s cartoon series. This game looks genuinely exciting and features several original voice actors who are reprising their roles from the series.
  • Unravel: A cute new platformer from Coldwood and Electronic Arts that garnered a generally positive response in previews.
  • Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2: A sequel to the 3D shooter based on the popular mobile game Plants vs. Zombies mobile game.

The Game Hubs on Xbox One provide a great way to view consolidated statistics on each title that are usually unavailable within the game itself. Dance Central Spotlight for example has no leaderboard or friends functionality in-game but its Game Hub provides a great way to compare players’ playtime and scores against others.

Game Hubs can also be a convenient way to stay up to date with game-related news as the developers are allowed to post updates in a very similar way to how a tweet is sent out on Twitter. All updates appear in followers’ Xbox One Activity Feed. It is up to the developers to take advantage of this feature though. Killer Instinct’s Iron Galaxy Studios frequently communicates with fans via their Game Hub for example while Rare, just yesterday, thanked everyone for following their Game Hub for the upcoming Rare Replay and made a post essentially asking everyone to follow their Twitter and Facebook accounts for updates.

Do you follow any Game Hubs? Which game developers do you think use it the best? Give us your Game Hub reviews in the comments below.
