With E3 2017 just a few weeks away, many of you are probably wondering if Microsoft will have some exciting announcements for its most popular gaming franchises. A few days ago, Halo community manager Brian Jarrard shared on Reddit that “we’ll have a little something at E3 but it’s not related to the next major entry in the franchise.”
As a Halo 6 announcement has now been ruled out, what can Halo fans expect from Microsoft’s E3 press briefing? Answering other questions about an anniversary edition of Halo 3 (the game was released 10 years ago on the Xbox 360) on Reddit, the community manager said “OMG stop. There is no Halo 3 Anniversary” (via GameSpot).
If Halo: Combat Evoled and Halo 2 both got the Anniversary treatment then years after their initial release, an Anniversary Edition of Halo 3 didn’t make a lot of sense: the Xbox One bundle Halo: The Master Chief Collection already includes a slightly remastered version of Halo 3, with better lighting effects and 60 FPS gameplay. Sure, it doesn’t look as good as Halo 5: Guardians or even Halo 4, but it stays true to the original game developed by Bungie for the Xbox 360.
Now, we’ll have to wait for Microsoft’s E3 press briefing on June 11 to learn what the company has in store for Halo fans, but we guess it could well be new additional content for Halo Wars 2. The RTS game was released on the Xbox One and Windows 10 in February, and we expect 343 Industries to support it with several post-release content updates like it did for Halo 5: Guardians.Further reading: E3 2017, Halo, Halo 3, Microsoft, Video Games
