After opening registrations for the Microsoft Flight Simulator Insider Program last month, the team behind the upcoming game is now getting ready to release the first tech alpha build to select testers. In the latest development update published yesterday, the team revealed that it will open up the gates for this first build release on October 24, and you have until October 15 to sign up for the Insider Program to get a chance to be selected.

If you’re not selected for testing this first tech alpha build, the team plans to open registrations for the second tech alpha in late October. There’s a lot of excitement about this new Flight Simulator game, which will leverage Azure and Bing data to map over 2 million cities and 40,000 airports across the world. Asobo Studios, the French developer working on the new flight simulator, will also use its own game engine to deliver crazy-detailed graphics on Windows 10 PCs.

If you’ve already signed up for the Insider Program, you can now check out the first episode of the team’s Feature Discovery Series in the Insider section of the Microsoft Flight Simulator website. This first episode is a close to 10 minutes video featuring the developers talking about their work on the game, with some breathtaking gameplay footage.
