Microsoft launched the Android Powered “Surface Phone,” the Surface Duo, for an original base price of $1399 (or $1499 for the 256GB model). Since then, it’s been officially discounted to $999/1099, but third party sellers have it for less than that. In the latest example of a race to the bottom, BuyDig (via Ars Technica) has the phone for $699 with a $200 coupon that expires on May 16th.

If you’re looking for a first generation concept of a dual screen device, at a price that makes a bit more sense, this Surface Duo deal might be for you. The Surface Duo was first announced in October 2019, but didn’t go on sale until September 10th, 2020, at a premium price to say the least for an unproven form factor with a decidedly inferior camera.

Rumors have been swirling about a “Surface Duo 2,” but nothing is official yet, and it’s unclear when or if a new version of the Duo will emerge. If you’ve wanted to try out a Duo, but were put off by the price, or if you just want a collector’s item, you might want to take a look at this deal.
