It’s been a busy day to be a Windows Insider. Microsoft pushed out Windows 10 build 17017 for PCs for both Fast ring and Skip Ahead Insiders earlier today, and now another update to Windows 10 has entered the fray. Indeed, the company just pushed out Windows 10 Cumulative Update Build 16299.19 to all Windows Insiders who are still running build 16299.15 on their PCs (Slow Ring and Release Preview Insiders, to be clear).

Update: Microsoft originally stated that it released the build 16299.20 today, but it was apparently a typo. The correct build number is 16299.19

As explained when build 16299.15 dropped two weeks ago, today’s update is just for quality fixes and includes no new OS features. It should be smaller in size, and similar to the Patch Tuesday updates which those in the Production Ring are accustomed to. Here is what you need to know:

  • Addressed issue where, after removing apps, they’re reinstalled on every restart, logoff, and login.
  • Addressed issue where localization of the error output from a JET database is broken. Only English error strings are reported.
  • Security updates to Windows kernel-mode drivers, Microsoft Graphics Component, Internet Explorer, Windows kernel, Microsoft
  • Windows Search Component, Windows TPM, Windows NTLM, Device Guard, Microsoft Scripting Engine, Windows Wireless Networking, Microsoft Windows DNS, Windows Server, Microsoft JET Database Engine, and the Windows SMB Server

It’s great to see that Microsoft is issuing a quality update and still working to perfect the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update just before it launches next week. As always, let us know in the comments if you encounter any issues after installing this new build.
