Sonic the Hedgehog returns to Minecraft with new texture pack

A brand-new Sonic the Hedgehog-themed texture pack is available in the Minecraft Marketplace. Texture packs change the look and feel of your Survival Mode overworld. In this one (which is also available in Creative Mode), players can experience a world reminiscent of levels from the classic Sonic games such as the Green Hills or the Labyrinth.

The new Sonic texture pack is by Gamemode One, who was also the developer behind the Sonic the Hedgehog DLC.

It was a lot of fun to adapt the most iconic Eggman Badniks and Sonic creatures while still preserving the Minecraft experience. It was quite a challenging undertaking but it resulted in the best of both games shining through! It was also fun to interpret Sonic Zones as Minecraft biomes. Seeing the world as a diverse, interconnected set of Sonic Zones is very exciting!”—Scott Kerslake, Gamemode One.

In addition to the new overworld textures, some of the mobs have been reimagined as Badniks—the robotic backbone of Doctor Eggman’s army. As for Doctor Eggman himself, the developer hints “You never know…A certain eggy individual might be making an appearance…”
