For those that did not know, Windows Hello is a cool feature in Windows 10 that allows users to seamlessly and securely log into their computers using fingerprint, iris, or facial recognition. Really cool, right? Now what if we told you that Windows 10 Mobile also supports Windows Hello, allowing you to use facial recognition to log into your new Lumia 950?
As you can see in the video above, using Windows Hello on the Lumia 950 is an absolute delight and actually quite impressive. There’s a nifty little iris scanner on the front of the Lumia 950 and you can set up Windows Hello without any pain. Windows Hello even recognizes you if you are wearing fancy sunglasses!
So how does Windows Hello work? During the setup process (which you can see in the video above), Windows 10 Mobile will take the data captured from the iris scanner and create a representation that encrypts and stores on your device. It’s not an image of your face, it’s a graph of your face. This is why it works so well even when you have cool sunglasses on.
We’ll be offering an in-depth look at the Lumia 950 soon, so stay tuned. Let us know in the comments below if you plan to purchase a Lumia 950 and use Windows Hello.Further reading: Lumia 950, Microsoft, Windows 10 Mobile, Windows Hello
