Windows phone Telegram app updates with major new Telegram Passport feature

The official Telegram app has updated on Windows phones with support for the newly announced Telegram Passport feature that was revealed just last month.

Telegram Passport is essentially a way to store personal information and identity documents in the cloud for easy access during meetings or applications. All of the information is encrypted and will eventually be stored in a decentralized cloud powered by blockchain technology.

Here’s the official release notes.

  • Telegram Passport – a unified authorization method for services that require personal identification.
  • Store your identity documents and personal data in the Telegram cloud using End-to-End Encryption.
  • Instantly share your data with services that require real-world ID (finance, ICOs, etc.).
  • For a real-life implementation, see www.ePayments.com/tg – the first electronic payments system to integrate Telegram Passport.

Telegram is one of the most-popular chat apps around and has a particularly large following in the tech and crypto online communities. Its Windows phone app continues to be one of the most-updated apps on the platform and the Telegram Desktop app for Windows PCs and tablets also gets a lot of support.
