The official Telegram app has updated on Windows phones with support for the newly announced Telegram Passport feature that was revealed just last month.
Telegram Passport is essentially a way to store personal information and identity documents in the cloud for easy access during meetings or applications. All of the information is encrypted and will eventually be stored in a decentralized cloud powered by blockchain technology.
Here's the official release notes.
- Telegram Passport – a unified authorization method for services that require personal identification.
- Store your identity documents and personal data in the Telegram cloud using End-to-End Encryption.
- Instantly share your data with services that require real-world ID (finance, ICOs, etc.).
- For a real-life implementation, see www.ePayments.com/tg – the first electronic payments system to integrate Telegram Passport.
Telegram is one of the most-popular chat apps around and has a particularly large following in the tech and crypto online communities. Its Windows phone app continues to be one of the most-updated apps on the platform and the Telegram Desktop app for Windows PCs and tablets also gets a lot of support.
