Windows 8 Pro upgrade offer to cost $15, comes with free workshops

A report which surfaced a few days ago suggested that the upgrade cost for Windows 8 Pro edition will cost just $14.99 for those who purchase a Windows 7 PC between June 2nd and January 31st of 2013. Now, a bit more is revealed. This “Windows Step-Up Offer” will offer an incentive to jump to Windows 8 during the holidays for a decent price.

Those who purchase this Windows Step-Up Offer will also be invited to specific Windows 8 workshops, but no details on what those workshops will be about aside from “learning about Windows 8.” If you attend one of these workshops, Microsoft will give you a $20 Microsoft Store gift card just for going. The $14.99 price mark makes Windows 8 upgrades rather affordable. Currently, Windows 7 upgrades can cost anywhere from $50 to $100. The price is expected to be for those who purchase a Windows 7 PC and want to upgrade to Windows 8, it could also be for general upgrades from one Windows 8 version to another.
