After the massively-successful launch of Apex Legends last week, it seems as if interest in the Titanfall franchise has been renewed quite a bit.

Players have begun to notice a lot more activity in the online multiplayer in the Xbox One version of the Titanfall 2 video game for example with some seeing over 10,000 players online at the same time. Apparently Titanfall 2’s online servers averaged around two to three thousand players before Apex Legends was announced.

Some speculated that the shift to the free-to-play model used in Apex Legends could spell doom for the main Titanfall video game series but it seems, at least for now, that offering a free game set within the Titanfall world may have actually been a good thing for the franchise.

Something else that’s likely helping grow the Titanfall 2 playerbase is its frequent discounts on Xbox One and its inclusion in the EA Access subscription service which lets subscribers play it for free. With lots of new players discovering Titanfall through the free Apex Legends, EA has made it very easy for them to jump into Titanfall 2.
