A week ago, we learned that Microsoft had quietly filed a new trademark for a gaming-related S-shaped logo at the European Union Intellectual Property Office. The discovery of this new logo just a couple of days ahead of Microsoft’s E3 media briefing suggested that it could be related to what we used to call “Project Scorpio.” However, it turns out this was just the new logo for the Xbox One S.

As Reddit user jasonht pointed out earlier today, Microsoft is using this new logo to market the “old” Xbox One S, while a similar X-shaped logo has been created for the brand new Xbox One X. You can find the image with the two new logos at the end of two separate E3 2017 videos that Microsoft published on the Xbox YouTube channel yesterday.

We know that many Xbox fans really wanted Microsoft to keep the “Scorpio” name for its new console, but “Xbox One X” is slowly growing on us. It stays consistent with the Xbox One S branding, and it’s also much better than the “Xbox 10 S” name that was suggested by some Twitter users last week after analyzing some pre-E3 trailers.
