Surface 3 available for pre-order on Amazon and Best Buy

The newly announced Surface 3 is now available for pre-order on Amazon and Best Buy in anticipation of its May 5th, 2015 release. Microsoft just announced the Surface 3 yesterday and it looks like Amazon and Best Buy already see that it will be a hot-seller. The Microsoft Surface 3 is a 10.8 inch tablet running Windows 8.1 with an Intel Quad Core Atom x7 1.6 GHz processor. The Surface 3 also sports a 8 MP rear camera, 3.5 MP front camera, a USB 3.0 port, a microSD card reader, and a Mini DisplayPort. The Surface 3 will also offer a free 1-year subscription to Office 365.

The Surface 3 LTE models are slated to be released sometime this summer, but it looks like Amazon and Best Buy are only offering the WiFi-only models for the time being. In addition to Amazon and Best Buy, you can also pre-order the Surface 3 from the Microsoft Store. The WiFi-only models of the Surface 3 come in two models; the first Surface 3 model has 2 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage for $499.00, and there is also the Surface 3 that has 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage for $599.00. Keep in mind that the Type Covers and Surface Pen will be sold separately.

In addition to the free Office 365 subscription, the Surface 3 will get a free upgrade to Windows 10 when it comes out this summer, so overall, it’s a pretty sweet deal.
