During the Surface 2 press event this morning, Microsoft’s Panos Panay took the stage and unveiled the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 to the world. Here is the pre-order, pricing, and availability information for those of you who wish to purchase the device when it becomes available.
“Tomorrow morning 8AM we will start taking pre-orders on all the Surface products. On 10/22 these products will be available,” Panay stated during the event. The Surface 2 starts at $449 and Surface Pro 2 at $899. Surface RT remains at $349.
The Surface Pro 2 comes in a variety of configurations, including 64GB storage and 4GB RAM, 128GB storage and 4GB RAM, and also 256GB of storage with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage with 8GB of RAM. “This thing is a beast,” Panay adds.
Consumers can pre-order the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 on September 24th at Microsoft Stores and BestBuy. You can also pre-order your device here at Microsoft’s official pre-order webpage.
According to Microsoft, both devices along with accessories will launch at Microsoft retail stores and select retailers in 22 initial markets including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States on October 22nd.
China will see the device in early November. Additional markets will be announced in the coming months.
