In a new initiative with edX, Microsoft is offering a number of development courses in an effort to bring high-quality education to everyone, everywhere. edX is a leader in an online learning movement called Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). Microsoft is the first company to offer development courses on edX in the MOOC format.
Microsoft experts will be on hand to teach the edX MOOCs, leading students to build new applications, games, and services on Windows 8.1 and the upcoming Windows 10. Microsoft hopes to provide students with hands-on experiences with cloud services (Azure), mobile development (Windows Phone), and data sciences (TransactSQL) in order to learn marketable skills in the ever-evolving, interconnected world. Enrollment for Microsoft’s MOOCs on edX start today, and the MOOCs will begin at the end of March 2015. Students can audit Microsoft’s MOOCs for free as well as get a certificate from edX for a fee.
The Microsoft MOOCs include:
- Programming with C#
- Introduction to TypeScript
- Introduction to Bootstrap
- Querying with Transact SQL
- Building Cloud Apps with Microsoft Azure
- Introduction to Office 365 APIs
- Windows PowerShell Fundamentals
