Spotify on Xbox One updated, gets Cortana support and enhanced music controls

Jonny Caldwell

Spotify users are receiving an update for the app on the Xbox One console today. The new update was in Insider testing for some time, and now provides all users with a few neat new features, including integration with Cortana. This mean users will be able to say “Hey Cortana” to play music, playlists, and stations as well as pausing and skipping, assuming they have a headset or headphones with a built-in microphone.

In addition to Cortana integration, users will also notice improvements to the user interface to make it easier to access things like recent songs, user library, and “Made for You” hub. Spotify is also getting additional control options from the Xbox Guide, including the shuffle and repeat icons.

The app should automatically update for users who have the setting enabled. Spotify is free to use on Xbox One if you don’t mind the ads, and you can get it from the download link below.
