Shadow of the Tomb Raider video game on Xbox One and Windows 10

With the upcoming Shadow of the Tomb Raider coming to Xbox One on September 14, 2018, it appears that the game will be able to run with some different graphical options. In fact, Shadow of the Tomb Raider will not be able to run in 4K at 60 FPS on the Xbox One X. In a statement to Windows Central, Square Enix provided some clarification on the matter:

“Shadow of the Tomb Raider will not run 60 FPS while in 4K. To allow for a more customized gameplay experience, the game will include two visual modes: ‘4K Resolution’ which runs in 4K resolution at 30 FPS, and ‘High Resolution’ which is targeting 1080p at 60 FPS. Both modes will feature a wide variety of additional enhancements such as HDR, improved physically-based rendering, hardware tessellation, anisotropic filtering, additional dynamic foliage, and more.”

Gamers will be able to choose between two options; 4K resolution at 30 FPS or 1080p at 60 FPS. While it is a bummer that Shadow of the Tomb Raider will not run 60 FPS in 4K, it’s good to know that gamers can choose the Tomb Raider graphical experience that suits them.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is available for $59.99 for pre-order through the Microsoft Store.
