Rise of the Tomb Raider updated on Windows 10 with DirectX 12 support

Don’t think Rise of the Tomb Raider is pretty enough? If so, then take heart. The developers of the game on Windows 10 have just put in support for the next big thing in gaming graphics: DirectX 12. If you bought Rise of the Tomb Raider through the Windows Store, you can now go over to your settings menu and switch over to DirectX 12 to enhance just how gorgeous the game looks. This update came out just a few weeks ago through the Steam version of the game, and those who have decided to purchase it through Microsoft’s official channel are now officially caught up.

If you haven’t already seen the above video that shows off the power of DirectX 12, you ought to. It was shown off at 2015’s Build conference, and displays some of the most beautiful footage that we’ve ever seen rendered through a game engine. Incredibly strong lighting, shadows, and mind-blowing polygon count are all supported by DirectX 12, and it’s paving the way for a fairly incredible future in gaming.

While there’s only so much that it can do for Rise of the Tomb Raider, the differences are still very much present. Let us know in the comments what you think of the game with DirectX 12 enabled.
