Remedy’s Alan Wake will soon disappear from Xbox, Steam stores, get it 90% off on Steam starting tomorrow

Remedy will soon offer the psychological horror action-adventure video game, Alan Wake for 90% off on Steam from May 13th to May 15th, so you might want to consider grabbing it up before it’s gone forever. The reason why? According to new reports, Alan Wake will soon disappear from Xbox, Steam stores, and physical retail stores due to a music licensing issue.

While the exact details surrounding the licensing issue is not clear, Remedy tells Polygon that the “the licensing for the music will expire on May 15.” With this so, the game can’t be sold after the date, until Microsoft and Remedy manage to renegotiate the licenses. Thomas Puha, the head of communications for Remedy explained to Polygon.

“Microsoft and Remedy are looking into renegotiating the music licenses, but there’s nothing more to comment on that for now…Obviously having to remove the game from stores is rather unfortunate. So, we figured, let’s discount the game heavily and those who have not bought Alan Wake yet, here’s your chance to grab it on Steam.”

The licensing issues do not affect Alan Wake American Nightmare, which Remedy negotiated its own music licensing free for. An official blog post from the developer mentions that Remedy is looking into relicensing the music for Alan Wake, provided no timeframe.
