OneDrive goes universal on Xbox One, now supports Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents

Jack Wilkinson

Microsoft is continuing to push its Universal Windows Platform (UWP), as the OneDrive team have now brought the Windows 10 OneDrive app to Xbox One. With this all-new app for Xbox One, OneDrive users can now access Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents all from within OneDrive.

The old OneDrive app would only show photos from OneDrive. Now, you can view Office documents. Clicking to open them will cause them to open in Microsoft Edge.

One thing to point out is that currently, the app does not support PDF files.

To access the new OneDrive, head to the Store on Xbox One and search for ‘OneDrive’ and it will be shown. You may wish to uninstall the previous app, so that you don’t get confused between the two.
