OneDrive for Android adds support for 8K video playback and Samsung Motion Photos

| |

Microsoft today announced that they are in the process of rolling out support for both Samsung Motion Photos and 8K videos to OneDrive users on Android.

Support for Samsung Motion Photos will be gradual with the ability to upload them via the Android OneDrive app and view them in a web browser beginning today while support for playback within the app is planned for the near future.

Currently, viewing an uploaded Samsung Motion Photo elsewhere will simply display a still frame from the photo.

The storing of 8K videos in OneDrive has been supported for a while but now owners of Samsung Galaxy S20 and S21 smartphones will be able to watch 8K videos via the OneDrive Android app in their full resolution on their phone as well.
