Skooler, a Norwegian education technology company, has launched its product portfolio in the UK, and has partnered up with Microsoft in the process. Skooler offers a dashboard system, aptly named Skooler Dashboard, which brings Microsoft's Office 365's suite of collaboration tools into one central, customized location.
With the dashboard, educational institutions can offer students and staff a customized interface, whereby they can set their logo, upload resources, and share documents. Skooler assists teachers by helping them create lesson plans, establish learning objectives, and set assignments for students to work on.
One example use of the platform covered a teacher writing notes and an assignment task on their Windows tablet, and assigning it to a student. Once assigned, the student then receives an email, where they can open up an app and view the notes that the teacher wrote - and then begin work on the assignment.
The process removes the necessity for teachers to remember everything that has been said in class, and set assignments on-the-fly. Overall, the aim of the platform is to bring Office 365 to education. What may have seemingly been a confusing system for people, has been made simple and easy-to-use for teachers and students alike.
A video demoing the full suite, Skooler LMT, which includes all Office 365 apps, can be seen below:
Some of the features included on the platform are:
- Assignment setting and tracking
- Create and store lesson plans
- Communicate with others - in groups and individually
- Share teaching resources, including: documents, links and files
