A new Windows 10 build for desktops: Microsoft is still 'working on it'

\

February has been an exciting month for Windows Phone users, with the release of Windows 10 for phones technical preview for those who are a part of the Windows Insider Program. Unfortunately for those on a desktop itching to get their hands on a new Windows 10 build, you will have to wait just a tad bit longer. We are likely to receive a new build this month.

\

On Thursday, February 12th, Microsoft released Windows 10 for phones preview. Gabriel Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, revealed via Twitter at the time that the next build of Windows 10 for desktop would not be released immediately following the phone preview, giving everyone the idea that it may come at the end of the month.

\

Aul stated a few times throughout the month that new preview builds would become available monthly, and sometimes perhaps faster. When Microsoft rolled out three hotfixes for Windows 10 build 9926 for desktops on February 18th, people became excited thinking a new build was on the immediate horizon. These hotfixes were supposed to help prepare for the new build’s arrival.

\

But, alas, February has come and gone. A new Windows 10 build for desktops did not arrive. Well, that’s because Microsoft didn’t actually promise a new desktop build in February, even though we are all guilty of thinking that. Here is what Aul stated today on Twitter in response to “when is the next desktop build coming:”

\

@minecpptech Hi Joshua, I actually didn’t promise a build in Feb. I said “roughly monthly” and “sooner than last one”. We’re working on it.

So what does this mean? It looks as if we will likely see a new desktop build sometime this month. Could Microsoft have been a bit clearer that a new Windows 10 build of desktops would not arrive in February? Sure.

\

Stay tuned, we will let you know once a new build becomes available. You can also bookmark our dedicated Windows 10 page here.
