Microsoft late this afternoon is pushing out a new Xbox preview build to the Preview Alpha and Skip Ahead Rings. This latest 1806 build brings FastStart support for more games, and there’s also the usual bug fixes and improvements coming with every new release.

The list of new titles which now support FastStart includes some games that are not available through Xbox Games Pass, such as The Walking Dead: The Complete First Season, Dead Space 2 or Rivals of Aether. Overall, we’re looking at 26 Xbox One and Xbox 360 FastStart-enabled games with this build (up from eight games).

As a reminder, Xbox One’s new FastStart feature is based on machine learning and works during the installation of all games which have FastStart enabled, regardless if you’re a Game Pass subscriber or not. The purpose of FastStart is to speed up the installation process by downloading the parts of the game you’re most likely to need to start playing right away.

This release also addresses issues with audio dropouts, the online status of friends, Looking for Groups, the Microsoft Store, and Game Clip trimming. It also comes with known issues impacting the Game Pass Tab, Groups, Networking, and Profile Color. Again, you can check out today’s release notes for the full details.

Last but not least, Microsoft also announced that it is now opening up the Alpha-Skip Ahead ring to more Xbox Insiders across the other rings. Invites will be sent out based on a record of feedback, so again not everyone will have access. You can head to Xbox Insider Hub, navigate to the Insider content tab, select the “Xbox One Update Preview” and choose “Manage” to see if you qualify.
