Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22593, and it’s a relatively small build for you Dev and Beta Channel insiders. The new release just brings some slight tweaks to File Explorer and does not deliver on not the teased “tabs” experience from earlier this week.

In this build, you should see that the default homepage of File Explorer is now called Home. That means there are now some wording and spacing tweaks, as Quick access has been repurposed for the pinned/frequent folders section and Pinned files are now called Favorites to align with Office and OneDrive. Also related to the change is the fact that Recent and pinned files displayed in Home are now searchable using the search box in File Explorer. This means that you can find Office files recently shared with you.

Outside of the tweak to File Explorer, Microsoft is also spotlighting its new Journal app. Microsoft Journal will be pinned by default on the Pen menu, and if you don’t have the app installed, it will be installed if you click on it. As always, we invite you to check out the full list of changes at Microsoft, as there are plenty covering, Input, Taskbar, Widgets, and more.

We’ll end by noting that you Windows Insiders might come across a significant issue in this build. You might encounter download error code 0xc8000402 while trying to download this build. Microsoft’s workaround is to join Release Preview Channel first, install Windows 11 from there (Build 22000.xxxx), and then switch to the Dev or Beta Channel. Microsoft hopes that this is fixed in an upcoming build.

Happy downloading!
