It looks like a slightly less-overpriced storage option is on the horizon for Xbox Series X|S owners. As reported by The Verge and others, a listing for a new Series X|S expansion card from Western Digital was spotted on Best Buy’s website. The listing has since been removed, but fortunately images of the card have been made available online.

As you can see above, the Western Digital 1TB card is priced at $179.99 USD, making it $40 cheaper than Seagate’s 1TB offering at $219.99.

More storage options are much needed, especially for the 512GB Series S (which only affords the user about 364GB, with the rest reserved for the system). Considering that many modern games require upwards of 50-60 or even 100GB, that 364GB proves scarcely adequate for many gamers.

With Seagate as the sole manufacturer for Series X|S expansion cards, prices have refused to budge even though the console is in its third year on the market. Maybe the arrival of a new competitor on the scene in Western Digital will change that. Note that neither Western Digital or Microsoft have commented on the listing, and there has been no official announcement regarding the new product.
