Just in time for the new school year, Minecraft Education Edition is making its way to the iPad. As noted in post on GeekWire, Minecraft Education Edition will be available for iPads in schools across the country, adding “a set of features created for the Education Edition has been made available to all Minecraft players.” Here’s a video that looks at all the new features coming for Minecraft Education Edition.

As noted by a post on the EDU blog, Kyriakos Koursaris, Head of Education Technology for PaRK International School, had this to say about the new Minecraft update:

“Minecraft: Education Edition on iPad unlocks new and intuitive ways of collaborating and sharing and has revolutionized the way our students and teachers explore curriculum and projects. The features allow for deep and meaningful learning, and the values it promotes, from inclusivity to 21 century skills, empower everyone to use technology with extraordinary results.”

This is the first year that schools will get their hands on Surface Go, and Microsoft is excited to see what students will create and do with the newest member of the Surface family. Other Microsoft EDU announcements include:

  • Graphing in Math Assistant on Microsoft OneNote
  • OpenUp resources
  • Additional colors for page themes in Office Lens
  • Closed captioning in Stream
  • iOS device management in Intune for Education

In addition to these new features, Microsoft has plenty of new education features available for Microsoft Teams. Stay tuned for more Microsoft Education announcements coming soon.
