Microsoft Windows Vista SP1 End of Life Nears

If you are one of the few users who are still using Windows Vista, make sure you are using Service Pack 2 or migrate to Windows 7. Microsoft plans on ending support for Windows Vista Service Pack 1 on July 12th.

Microsoft plans on ending support for Windows Vista SP1, which means no more security updates. In fact, in just a few months (April 2012 to be exact), all consumer versions of Windows Vista will no longer be supported. Business support will continue until 2017.

For those who are still planning on using Windows Vista even after SP1 is no longer supported, fear not, you can still continue using the operating system. However, you will be much more vulnerable to security risks due to Microsoft no longer providing updates.

The newest version of Windows, Windows 8, is rumored to be released in April of 2012, just in time for Microsoft to discontinue all consumer versions of Windows Vista.

Just recently, we learned that Office XP would also no longer be supported starting July 12. Office XP was launched nearly 10 years ago and featured the removal of “clippit” and other office assistants.
